Creating the Perfect Timeline! Getting Ready + Bridal Details (Part 1)

When you sit down to plan out your wedding day, you probably feel completely overwhelmed with how much there is to think about and plan. This series is here to help you organize your day so that its fun and relaxed, while at the same time, knowing you are getting every moment captured exactly the way you want it.

After numerous coffee and wine dates you and I will create the perfect timeline. One of the first questions I ask is "What time will you be getting ready?" The getting ready portion of the day is one of my all time favourites!! Its where you become a stunning bride and the rooms are filled with laughter, tears and love lol. When I arrive I spend about 20 minutes looking for locations with good light and I gather all the bridal details (dresses, flowers, shoes, invitations, jewelry, rings)... and anything else that you would love captured. Once I have all of the items for the details it takes me about 45 minutes to complete that part of the day. While I am doing those I still capture all of the candid moments between you and your bridesmaids. Everyone wants those mimosa shots with their girls in their wedding day robes!

To help you figure out how much time you'll need for hair and makeup, here are some examples from past experiences I've had. Hair usually takes approx 30 mins/person and depending on how many ladies are getting hair done you may or may not need a team of hair dressers...hopefully you have someone quick if you only have 1 there to help you. There was one wedding I was at where they had 1 hair dresser and he was able to complete 5 or 6 up dos in about 2.5 hours! Which is amazing!! Makeup usually takes longer...about 45 mins (depending on if you are having lashes put on).

I usually arrive when the bride is completing her hair and is ready for makeup! From there I do all of the details, capture all of the candid moments and then we are ready for everyone to hop into their dresses! Bridesmaids are first since they help the bride with hers. Here is where we ask mom if she wants to be apart of the photos. Helping the bride with her dress, putting on her veil and adding a few portraits into the mix! After all of the excitement I will ask for 5-10 mins with the bride alone for bridal portraits.

All of these steps should take 2-2.5 hours to do! So when you're planning your day and you want a smooth, relaxing and fun experience these are great guidelines to follow! As always if you have any questions or need help with anything, I'm here!!
